Sibiu Jazz Competition


19th-21st October 2015

All the participants that were present at the 2015 edition of SJF have brought a diversity of music styles. During the two competition days and the final award gala night, the jazz music was also accompanied by different other styles such as: swing, bossa nova, rock, funky, or alternatives, from traditional to contemporary, reaching also to some unexpected sounds, such as jazz manouche. The awards together reached more than 2.400EUR.

The judge pannel was made up of 5 members and was chaired by Simona Adina Maxim, executive director at Sibiu Jazz Festival.

Florian Lungu – musicologist, jazz presenter, radio and television broadcaster, composer of jazz themes.

Pavel Pușcaș – musicologist, prof. univ. dr. ”Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy from Cluj.

Maria Balabaș – musician, sound-artist, journalist at Radio Romania Cultural.

Alex Vasiliu – editor, broadcaster for TVR Iasi, artistic director (1999-2008) for the “Richard Oschanitzky” International Jazz Festival from Iasi.

Jenny Brăescu – artistic director for the International Jazz Festival from Brasov.
